CMR celebrates successful Management Buyout

It's a big year for CMR as we're celebrating the successful completion of a management buy out. CEO George Ashford, is now the sole owner of Creative Medical Research and he's got big plans for the company.

George was invited to join CMR back in 2010 with the intention of taking over the company. Talking of his decision to buy the business, George says “The offer to buy a company was always a massive draw for me and to be able to do so in an industry I love, covering subject areas where we make a real difference to people’s lives made it a no-brainer”.

Since the MBO was signed-off in February 2014 the business has maintained steady growth year on year despite the related financial and legal constraints of the MBO placing restrictions on CMR’s ability to invest in the business. This continued success has been reflected in the company’s staff progression and in the last 18 months, the business has seen Hayley Algar, Alper Hulusi and most recently Lucy Little all become Company Directors. The start of 2019 also saw the promotion of Matt Bowles to Associate Director.

George continues “The end of the MBO means we can now start to invest in the business to the level we’ve always intended. We have some exciting plans for the coming year. 2020 marks CMR’s 20th birthday and our plans for an iconic year involve the teams continuing growth and development as well as concentrating on innovations within our field and investing in sophisticated technology and tools. We’ve been increasingly involved in research around connected devices and artificial intelligence and that’s an exciting area we’d like to push further in to”.
